All right, I know that it's been asked before, but does any one have any unique ways of creating this effect? I don't prefer squibs or F grade gunpowder, but I would still use them.

I figured, you need a pouch of blood for every way, but the only ways I know of how to pop the pouch is by a small explosion (gunpowder or squib), air pressure, or a spring loaded object. I don't care if your idea doesn't work very well, just post it anyway. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Here's a method that you can try that's worked quite well for me in the past. Here's what you'll need:

A can of pressurized air (the most powerful you can find -- most office supply shops have 'em). Get one with a rounded nozzle.

15-20' of fish aqaurium airline tubing.

Plastic spoon.

Slightly watered-down fake blood (corn syrup based is best).

A small, needle-less syringe body (check a feed store or a vet clinic for that).

A small chunk of make-up sponge.

KY Jelly.

LOTS of packing tape.

Here's what you do: First, break the handle off your spoon, sanding away any rough edges. Throw the handle away... you won't be needing that. Then, load your blood into a syringe so that you can put roughly five to ten CC's into your tubing. Leave the syringe in place so the blood doesn't just pour out of the tubing. Then, attach the other end of the tube to your can of air, using a zip-tie to make sure it's secure. You can now remove the syringe. Prepare a small chunk of make-up sponge to insert into the end of the tube that has the blood in it by coating the sponge with KY Jelly. This will seal off the tube, keeping the blood from running toward the can later, while still making the sponge slick enough to not create too much back-pressure when you finally set it off. Now use some tape to secure the tubing to the spoon, taking care not to cover up the spoon's open end (this is what the blood will hit and shower off of when you set off the effect). Cut a U-shaped hole just smaller than the spoon in your garmet of choice, be it a shirt, blouse, or whatever... Reinforce the inside area of the hole with tape, before attaching the spoon and tubing. Of course, make sure the open end of the spoon's facing out toward the hole, since that's where the blood'll fly. Tape this up quite well, so that as the blood explodes out of your tubing it doesn't mostly spray around inside the fabric. Have your actor put on the garmet, hide the folds, and there you have it! Practice this technique before the day of the shoot, because it'll take some getting used to. But in time, I think you'll agree that it's quite effective and reliable! Good Luck!
